aww... down with a cold and fever. But luckily it isn't h1n1, at least tt's what the doctor told me?

mel isnt feeling well too, hehz, she tot she contracted hfmd, her hands were itching all over. I told her thats becos she's dirty and she didnt bathe. ;p
wow, we both fell sick at the same time!

and when im sick, my dad took great care of me. i think im really lucky. have really nice people around me. And my dad, always, a very loving dad, even though im already so old(at least old enough to take care of myself). sometimes, some pple just dun have to say i luv u to show that they care, but they'll just show it to you and you just see it. And im learning alot from him.

next few days could be crucial... aw, dun worry, not refering to my illness, but rather something more important..

Today, I've officially graduated...

Today was a special day. A day i'll appreciate and a day i'll remember for life.

Today marked the experiences, and changes that i've undergone in my past few years.

I am grateful. I am grateful for all the good that had happened to me, to have fought and achieved. I am grateful to still have my love ones to grace this day with me.

thoughts running deep... and i thank the people whom i love, and also those who love me.
Always loving.

today the valedictorian said something which i particularly like;
"to complain is easy, the thanking is hard."

And I am grateful, just to be me.

hm!! it has been dinosaurs years since i last post!! LOL!!

well well well.. all that's because of exams aint it?!

ohh yea and that virtually means i've taken my last examination paper in my entire smu life.. wow, 4 years of hard work heh.

woo.. i must say for my last paper on Philosophy of Religion, i was pretty lucky! i seldom attribute anything to luck for some time, but this time i must say lady luck is smiling at me!

for the whole of the course, i wasnt really in agreement with the entire class on certain issues with concerns about the related arguments about the "truth" of God's existence(seems fun heh? but hello, the course is sure tough stuffs!)

and so, for those that im not really in agreement with, i tend to turn blind eye to the contents, neglecting on the possible consequences of what it could have brought for the final paper!! lol.

But what luck it turn out to be, i won the final coin toss! lol.

Now below are the 16 possible exam questions.

1) Compare and Contrast the disciplines of philosophy of religion and theology
2) How does Anselm argue that God's existence is self-evident? what is Aquinas
assessment of Anselm's position? Do you agree with Aquinas? why or why not?
3) Present and critically assess Aquinas' 2nd way.
4) Present and critically assess Aquinas' 1st way.
5) Present and critically assess Hume's account of the argument from Design.
6) What is Principle of Sufficient Reason(PSR)? With respect to Aquinas 2nd way,

And the coin toss flip turns out that we only need to do the even numbered questions for the 1st 8 questions. And that's lucky for me! for i simply dun have much of a memory about all the immortality and souls' stuffs...

hehz, and that said, i've cleared my most dreaded module.. lol.

most prolly take a break first, then refresh myself and prep myself for the next phase. =)

and yea, going hk with mel next sunday!

hey... was told off by yenling to update blog. and so here i am! =)

last week, we saw a cleaner got killed by our white tigers in the zoo, regardless of how nonsensical the set up was.

but it reminds me of one clip that i saw last time, of a real life story of how a baby lion got adopted by 2 british guys, taken care of, loved, and then release back to Africa and then reunited again... a story of unconditional love.

even between man and thy-called-beast.

28th Oct 2008:

finished my Marketing Research 2nd midterm, Digital Media presentation and EBC presentation.

31st Oct 2008:
celebrated mel's 21st birthday as well... she's really lovely and happy.

for those who dont know abt it, her 21st bday was on the 31st oct.
it was gone some four five days back... but if you are happy, everyday
can be your 21st birthday. :)

1 Nov:
Recruit Express obtained my resume online and gave me a job offer as a recruitment exec, so now im officially classifed as those smu students who got job offer before graduation. but i rejected the offer. because it is not my interest.

Today! 4 Nov:

Fatt's wedding! my good buddy just got wed. and i just came back from the dinner with mel. saw many many of my secondary sch mates and they are like all so excited~ really happy for fatt, and hope he'll have a blissful marriage.

ah har! i just came back from a camp.

Arul called me, asked me if i could help as he needed people he could trust.

Catwalk is not easy, but still fun!

wa, tonnes of handsome guys and pretty girls. sompa.
(but mel is still prettier!)

all looking dao initially, but subsequently all became really friendly and fun-loving. interesting.

Actually the whole thing is indeed quite tiring, reached there at 9.30 am.
rehearsal till early afternoon, then make-up and styling till evening and late into the show at 10 p.m.

Eat and Rest also cannot be in peace.
this kind of thing, do once is enuff.

They offered us a free membership to zouk for a year if we do it once more at zouk on 22nd august for a fashion show.

tempted heh? but no lar, i prefer my free time going swimming and sleeping!

I am adventurous! but still i prefer freedom!

lets do a quick summary!

certain people are easy to work with, and certain people are really really hard to work with.

Boss feedback,
good = im smart and can speak well, easy to get things done
bad = becos of this, i'll tend to take short cut or "gao geng"

lol. fine. =)

but anyway i guess i know i wun be liking a prospect in this industry for sure.
My dad insists i'm so not gonna work for them full-time after graduation, dad dun seem to like the regular running about that i have to do for them...

actually i dun exactly complain about that, but still, lovely dad's thoughts.

Riding isn't safe hehz.

Job is kinda happening and at times fun. But the one thing that i terribly cant stand is that it isn't that kind of intellectually challenging job that can keep me energetic and occupied all the time.

i yawn almost everyday, but not becos im tired, but becos im bored.

Great. I'm clearer to what i want with each passing day.

Money is important, so is passion. And i'm so not gonna work for other people all my life.

i think people who blame luck for all their bad experience arent pretty much made out to succeed.

that day after dinner with mel and her parents, i went to buy cha kway teow for my dad, and my bike broke down shortly after. Repair cost and everything adds up to $400 plus dollars. i had to walk all the way back home from the Xpressway since i cant hail a cab along the Xpressway (pretty near my home though =] )

just yesterday, one of my colleague was late for work and was vehemently explaning his engine died off on the way and the batt went flat exc...

he went on to blame his recent luck and claimed it will rub off unto us bla bla...

bad luck?

from my perspective, nope. vehicles break down is merely part and parcel of driving.
Many years back, i used to blame bad luck for many things too. But ive gone past that stage.
Cos it doesn't help.

I was reading on the recent Miss Universe Pageant. And once again, Miss USA , Crystle Stewart, fell on the stage when it was just down to the last final 10.

Interestingly, Ms Stewart is a motivational speaker. And as i have expected, she would not and did not mentioned anything about bad luck regarding the fall on the big stage...

in an interview after the event, she was still graceful enough to offer humour and philosophy regarding her fall while most would attribute it to bad luck;

"I think I'm going to have to take some walking classes,"

"My dress has beautiful beads on the bottom of it, and I stepped on my gown and they made me slip. It was like I was on Rollerblades. There was no conspiracy or anything. Nobody left marbles on the floor. It was just me."

Wise people will take it upon themselves 1st, take everything in their stride and think of how not to make it happen again, while silly people will merely blame it on bad luck and push it away.

That's the dif.

okay... today we gonna talk a little lesson about communication.

afterall we use communication everyday isnt it?

first of all in bridging a good communication, there is this very 1st rule, and that stems the first step of good communication...

empathy.

how many times have you shared your woes with your friends but you just felt that he or she dont seem to feel for you and you just shut off after which?

common?

there, that's where empathy comes into play..

in NLP terms, Richard Brandler termed this pacing.

there are some communication-killers that destroy communication that we cant, or i say, shouldn't commit.

you had some bad moments
and you shared with your good friend earnestly...

and your friend responded promptly.

"i don't understand why you are so angry!"

communication, gone. you shd be feeling quite turned off hearing this by now.
and you prolly wouldnt want to share anything else.

why? the reason is simple, clear, but yet hard to detect for many.

your friend may not mean to shoot you off, but just simply dun understand how u feel. yet he/she just did a communication killer.

after coaching for so long, i understand how empathy is so important to gaining trust and in communicating.

let me just share with you the key to making people feeling comfortable talking to you.

now, whenever someone shares his or her experience with me, i never evaluate the situation first. But instead, i pace his/her emotions first before leading him or her into analysing the situation. And that's how it always worked!

small magic. but it works.

people will feel comfortable and enjoy talking to you, isnt that great?

now, master this trick and you will have the power of better communication and improving relationships with the people around you..

today i was taking measurements along marina square for one of our events..

a singh guy in his forties walked up to me and told me i'm a lucky guy.

hm... interesting... i haven't been one to consider myself lucky so far. lol!!

yah... i'm lucky with girls... but other than that... puaHAHahHAhahA... I always thought i need to build up everything on my own.

Told me to take out a piece of white paper..

With a bit of skeptism but still obliged.
search for my bag and took out my note book...

tear a piece of paper out.

he wrote down numbers 5 and 9.
then pass me a prepared scrambled paper from his pockets.
told me to pick any 2 numbers between.

8th first.
then 6th.

opened up the scrambled paper i found 7. but what is very amazing is that the prepared piece of scrambled paper that he written the 7 on has the prints of that from my notebook. i.e to say the prepared paper he wrote on was from my very own notebook while i'm very sure he did not tear it out from the paper i gave him. how he did dat i dunnoe. lol.

"Boy, you are a lucky person, trust me... you will have what you want and happiness..."

1st day was just bbq and stuffs and mahjong.

2nd day we went to parkway for dim sum lunch, then went to Budget terminal awhile to collect stuffs, then went ktv, then back to chalet bbq, mahjong and finally night cycling to bedok jetty.

and just now we went to watch sex and the city...
nice show, superb!
(not the sex part, but the story line part ;] )

It's three weeks, my boss sounded me out, asked me to sign for them after i graduate, becos i handled and crafted a proposal for them and the client like and accepted it. At the same time, i want to do even more. i dont think that's enough to prove myself. I'm confident there's more stuffs in me they've yet to see.

I'm interested, yes, but there's also some issues i need to settle first before anything. So, lets wait and see. i want and need challenges. Like the work, like the people.

2 weeks into my intern, my boss really damn cool...

yesterday bring us go clarke quay meet clients, some big shot artiste management company, and doing some networking..

tt was about 5 p.m, after bizness bring us go cheiong again!

best la my boss.

we went Areana after bizness... was opened by one of the guys from the networking session, named Freddy. Good looking chap, who despite at 44, can conceal his age extremely well.

at Areana, it was damn solid.

let me share with u a story of a familiar monster...

A familiar monster.

there is this small boy, he was living with this monster all the while since he was very very young...And they were living in a broken hut in a deserted jungle. But they were happy. And this monster took great care of him when he was young... showered him with sincere care and love, cos he was still so cute and lovely when he was just a small baby toddler...

years later, both the monster and boy grew older... this boy had wanted to take care of the monster once he had the ability and opportunity to, but the monster started becoming very demanding of the boy... he wanted the boy to go climb the trees and get him his favourite mangoes, bananas and coconuts and hunt for him the wildest of boars as his cravings for meat became stronger... although the small boy would very much wanted to get him his favourite foods, it was still beyond his ability to do so... he tried a couple of times and he and he kept falling from the trees. and when he failed to get those favourite foods, the monster got really angry and crossed and threatened to gobble him up. He was raging with wrath.. and this small boy was very hurt... someone whom he had all along loved became so obnoxious and beastly..

and the boy was thrown into a turmoil. suddenly, he just feels like he's now all alone in this world...

nlp and escapism

recently i've been reseraching quite a lot on nlp, and at the same time, im also pretty intrigued by the concept of escapism.

they are two very diverse concepts, in fact, they are opposing in nature and are poles apart, the north pole never meets the south pole kind of thing.

nlp is about being positive in all situations while escapism is a mental diversion from the percieved unpleasant aspects of reality, it can be done by means of recreation, entertainment or even consumption or sex.

these few days, im putting myself on experimenting going thru these 2 deliberation. maybe they both do good?

some argued that escapism robs off pychological maturity, hm.. is it really so? the truth us everyone of us here resorts to some form of escapism before, conciously or subconciously, and with varying magnitude.

bring yourself back to a time when you were still a 5-6 year old kid, the time whereby u were biulding a cosy little house of your own, using mattresses blankets, pillows, or even cardboard... and you thought to yourself that will be your little castle and no one is allowed to enter unless you say so, and we just feel happy seeking solace in that little castle of ours.

that in itself is a form of escapism, and kids particularly like to enter into states of escapism partly due to curiousity and partly due to their disillusions of the real world. minus off the curiousity, arent adults the same?

as we grow older, curiousity slowly dies off and we no longer build our little castles and kingdoms... good or bad, you decide.

im sure u have heard of people indulging themselves to overeating after relationships breakoff or even going on a crazy shopping spree after such emotional events took place, isnt that in itself escapism as well? you just have the impetus to wanna break off the link from the real world, and so as to"form" another world of your own...

i dun seldom write long speeches as you would have already found out by my posts, dont you?

oh btw, why do people blog? have it occured to u why? why do we blog? and pple scream, yell, complain, lament about this and that all the time!! "this bitch, that biatch, that idiot and a stupid bus driver uncle who made me wait a seemingly thousand years this morning".

now... later this morning, as of 25 october already(now at 12:57 am), i'm supposed to hand in a Strategy report on eBay global expansion into the world market and emailed it to my friend, recite fluently a malay passage to prof and a start a malay conversation with him in about 11 hrs from now(which i havent even started), a strategy presentation on this Friday, Business process quiz on next tuesday and another international econs test on next wednesday. wow? impressive huh?

now not really, ironically, the impressive thing is not those that ive just mentioned above, but really impressive thing is here i am half lying on my bed spending my ticking time penning down all these despite my unfinished above challenges.

now, isnt it worthwhile writing a long speech to share with you guys a word called "escapism"

if you ask me, is escapisim good or bad?
excessive escapism is addiction. but every you me and him, we all resort to some form of mindful or unmindful escapism...

when was the last time you went on a holiday vacation, and you just forget about every and any other things other than fun? now i dont think that will be called pyschologically immatured...

now, for one more time... when will be the next time you and i need it again? and in what form?

i personally like to be engaged in games, especially those with the killings and the blood oozing
and gushing out from every possible holes that u can find in a human being. and after the killings and the gore, i'm back to the reality world, taking up my pen and paper jotting down my speech for my the presentation... but something in me, the bottled frustration, has gone together with the broken limbs and heads...

ahh.. like me think what happened during these few days

1) i just watched the resident evil and its really nice! go watch go watch, its worth every of your penny!

2) i nearly lost my wallet! and it kinda freaked me out, lol, and also freaked melinda out. puahahahah!

3) i got the flu virus from stupid shenn!!! that girl, took my table to study alrdy, eat my food, and then now pass me the stupid virus! okie, but i still dote her la.

4) studying... but! read half a chapter and goes off to sleep for the next one and a half hrs... bo hua.

5) i miss talking to my ilp kids every week during clearing space! i realized its not just abt them telling me their weekly stuffs, but it was also me telling them abt my stuffs. miss work.

6) scored well for all da tests so far. All quite swee swee wor. but this is only job half done, or 1/4 done. lol. studying also like marathon sia, need stamina and steam. run off steam then drink more gatorade. lame. okie i know. shuddup.

every friday strategy lesson... and i kind of dread my strategy class with prof talking substanceless stuffs... all superficials stuffs... sianz 1/2 + 1/2.

and the class also talk nonsense to gain class part.

that it makes me dun even feel like talking.

but maybe i shd just talk nonsense with them as well..

today is a bad day for me man.

everything went wrong from the start.

left my com on when i left home. com was on 12 hrs straight non-stop. sux.
class sux, with a cheehong prof, it sux big time.
the 2 hr meeting from 530 to 730 was okie.
but the taking of the wrong direction train was not.
damn! was alrdy so late alrdy and i took the wrong train to marina bay and then to woodlands direction.

haha think im just tired man... third week nia. oh my god liao.

when u r tired => aura = down => stupid things u will do.

i have not enuff time.

change strategy and make more time. Regardless.

it all started the day when i was t-r-ying to get a nap when i was waiting for her during cca day...

it always happened to me whenever i t-r-y to get a nap when i was tired but ended up with half-nap and the feeling after that sux...

he's right that the people whom you hang out with affects who you become, if u want to be a winner, you hang around with the winners, if u want to be rich, u learn from the rich how to be rich. if you want to be successful, you stay with successful people.

this is not being superficial. there is certainly some truth in it. those who played competitve sports now or before will certainly understand, you dun win championship with soft minded team.

and the reason for hanging with the right people, is because they have the resource, the resources to help you with what you want. when we are talking about resource here, we are not talking plainly about just money. We are talking about the aura, the ways and solutions they can provide, the thoughts that can influence you, and even the people whom they know, which will in turn provide you with even more resources.

we with all the resources around us, but look around and pick the best resources.

and i certainly knew of this logic since long ago.

just had my 1st week of school...

i used to sleep at 2-3 a.m every night, but now i'm already knocked out by 10 p.m!

i know ndp is like gone aeons ago...

but bah! haha ok i am lagging!

it is really different when watching it live and on the small screen...

why is it different?

1) live performance u can SQUEEZE with a lot of people! and i like SQUEEZING with other pple!

2) live performance u can get FREE goodie bag! and inside the goodie bag, there is a lot of GOODIES! OF COS LAR! TALK KOK.

3) live performance u see miniature people and dancers from the stands, small screen you can see their pimples.

okie stop... until this point...

actually live performance is more exciting larz.. haha cos when i was watching the parachuting every year on tv, i will always say " big deal ar!? i also know if u train me!"

but now is different wor, as i was watching all the eng cheks doing the parachuting, i was praying for them to land properly...

if not later scali one of them fall down... confirm malu + go back sign extras...

everything extra we want. macdonald extra large, chicken rice extra rice.

army extra, nobody wants.
